ASSEMBLAGE is a London-based studio of architects and urban designers active in a wide field of design from individual objects and buildings through to large urban strategies.
Launched in 2004 by Hannah Corlett the studio currently receives commissions from a variety of private and public sector organisations in the UK and internationally.
ASSEMBLAGE is a Chartered Practice with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)
We have a strong knowledge of speculative design strategies which has shaped our approach to design through research. As a result the studio has embedded a continuous strategic pairing of the exigencies of professional practice and speculative project work. Through all lies a preoccupation with the mechanics and poetics of representation, the provocative nature of materials and the technology of fabrication.
The studio has won a string of major international design competitions and commissions including the international competition for the design of the new Iraq Parliament 2012 and the UN HABITAT international housing design competition 2011. Currently ASSEMBLAGE are leading the new Design District at the heart of the Greenwich Peninsula Masterplan.
Hannah Corlett founded ASSEMBLAGE in 2004.
Hannah studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture in Unit 17 with Phil Tabor and Niall McLaughlin, graduating in 2000 with a Commendation, she also received a 1st Class Honours degree in architecture from the WSA.
Before launching her own practice, she worked on numerous celebrated projects with Will Alsop and Niall McLaughlin, including Peckham Library (Stirling Prize 2000) and the multi-award-winning houses in Clonakilty and Hertfordshire.
Assemblage Director Hannah Corlett was a key note speaker discussing cultural heritage at The RIBA International Conference, 2017 the centrepiece of RIBA International Week, a programme of events exploring the New Urban Agenda – the United Nations' global strategy for sustainable development and housing over the coming two decades.
